FAQs
Why should I filter my water?
As we all know, your body is mostly made up of water. Water is the substance that makes life possible, and permeates our whole body. When you bathe in or drink contaminated water, you are subjecting your body to injury at a very basic and invasive level - water and its constituents are readily absorbed by the body, both when ingested and through the skin. Using the right water filter can help further reduce pollutants like lead from old water pipes, pesticide runoff in rural areas and byproducts of chemicals like chlorine that are used to treat drinking water. Radon, arsenic and nitrates are common pollutants in drinking water, and trace amounts of drugs including antibiotics and hormones have also been found. Certain filters may help remove these impurities as well. But water contaminants and water quality vary from one local water utility to another, so you want to purchase a filter that is effective at capturing the right contaminants. You can request a copy of your water utility’s annual water quality report – to find out which contaminants in your local water are of concern. Some utilities will also run a free lead test on your tap water.
You can then choose a filter that is certified by NSF International, an independent public health organization that assesses products.
Filtering tap water may be even more important if you are pregnant, older, have young children or suffer from a chronic illness or compromised immune system.
Isn't city water already treated to be safe and pure?
Municipal water is treated, certainly, to kill bacteria and other organisms, usually with a chlorine compound.
The problem is that this chlorine compound, so deadly to bacteria, is also deadly to you!
Chlorine is not only a deadly poison, but it also dries out your hair and skin, and can change your hair color.
How well do your filters work on chlorine?
Our KDF filters work very well on keeping chlorine out of your water - up to 99% of the chlorine is filtered out! All of our KDF filters are WQA Gold Seal Certified. (Filter cartridge Certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 42 and NSF/ANSI Standard 61 for material requirement(s) only.
Filter Cartridge Certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 372 for low lead compliance)
What is KDF?
KDF 55 and KDF 85 Process Media can remove up to 99% of water-soluble lead, mercury, nickel, chromium, and other dissolved metals. All KDF Process Media forms are effective in controlling the buildup of bacteria, algae, fungi and scale, making them ideal for use in GAC beds, ion exchange resins, carbon block filters and inline carbon filters. Wherever these Media are used, they can eliminate the need for costly, and sometimes harmful, chemical treatments.
Do KDF Process Media offer any other advantages?
In a word, "Yes." All KDF Process Media are guaranteed for product purity. A certified analytical sheet accompanies each manufacturing run. Patented KDF Process Media are 100% recyclable and contain no chemical additives. Our Medium is classified as a "pesticide device" by the US Environmental Protection Agency so no pesticide registration is required. Our Media also meet EPA and Food and Drug Administration standards for maximum limits of zinc and copper in potable water.
Is chlorine the only problem with my water?
Depending on your location, your well or municipal water can have many contaminants: rust particles in iron rich areas, sulfur, lead, copper, and other heavy metals are just some of the possible water contaminants.
How well do your filters work on these contaminants?
Our filters work extremely well in removing contaminants. Water filtered with any of our filters will be clear and sparkling, get rid of itching and rashes, and make your skin glow and your hair shine!
What kind of filter set-up is best for me?
If you want maximum protection for your home, the best way is with a whole house system, which filters every drop of water coming into your house. Why a pre-filter?
If your water has a lot of sediment, or if you want to extend the life of your filter, a pre-filter is very useful. This is a coarser filter inline with your fine filter, which is easily cleaned and keeps most of the larger particles from prematurely clogging your filter.
How do I get the best drinking water?
For the best drinking water, get the under-counter Water Filter System #60010 or one of our other similar systems with a KDF/GAC filter. This is the same technology that the bottled water companies use to produce their expensive bottled water, as well as hospitals, business and others use. Contact us directly and we will assist you in getting the most powerful filter to meet your needs!
What type of material (media) is the actual filter made of?
All of our filters serve different purposes and contain media specific to removal of specific issues. Combined they can create a powerful force to focus on your water issues, taking out harmful elements, VOC’s, stopping hair color change from well water, copper pipes and city water.

Clean water is essential for healthy living; AF Series WQA Gold Seal certified cartridges assure customers their water will be pure, clean and delicious.
Do your filters ever clog up?
Our cartridges are oversized and contain more media than standard competitor cartridges offering 50% more capacity. What does this mean for our customer? They offer a longer life and lower overall cost. All of our cartridges are quality made in the USA.
Due to the manufacturing process, we never see clogging or channeling as you can with other brands of shower filters. We do offer a pre filter for areas with very heavy sediment or rust in the water. Changing your pre-filter refills and filter refills regularly will prevent filters from clogging and causing damage to the filter itself.
